Edwardian purple enamel locket w enamel chain

This product has sold out.

This is a beautiful enamel locket and chain. The locket is sterling silver (tested). On the front there is lavender champleve enamel. Champleve enamel is when opaque or translucent enamel fills the depressions which are stamped, etched or engraved into a metal. In this case, the etched pattern is of a star-burst design. There are tiny cultured pearls in a circle in the center. The chain matches the locket with the same lavender enamel in lozenges all along the length. Inside each lozenge are white enamel dots, matching the white enamel around the locket. There is also filigree work at the base of the chain with 3 four leaf clovers in white enamel. Stunning design. The locket measures 1″ round, the chain with the locket is 23″ long. With a loupe I can see that 2 tiny pearls have been replaced. There is minor white enamel loss in the dots near the filigree area, but for age the locket/necklace is in amazing condition. I forgot to mention that the chain links are enamelled on both sides. No photos, and the locket snaps closed. I would date this fine piece of jewelry at c1900-20′s.Product #5692
