Beautiful Victorian Pique heart pendant/charm
I love this little heart. Victorian pique, with gold inlaid on the front. Circles and bars, and a key-like design. The heart is puffy. It measures 1″ X 3/4″. The back is plain. The material is tortoise. Tortoise is currently endangered, like Ivory, and the only way it can be sold is if it is antique–over 100 years old. This heart is certainly over 100 years old. Condition is very good for age. Some cracks, chips and minor gold missing. There is a larger area in the back with a chip. I measured the area and it is 5mm long. Nothing you see on the front, and does not detract from the beauty of this heart. Weight is 3grms. I would date this fine Victorian pique heart at c1860′s-80′s.
