» Amazing carved Jade and 18K gold pendant/locket

This is a beautiful Art Deco Jadeite pendant. This piece has untreated Jadeite on each side of the locket. This pendant can also be used as a pillbox, and I believe in past times for poison. There is fine gold filigree work around the middle. The bail is stamped 18K. I also tested the metal with acids to be sure the pendant was also 18K, and it is. The front opens and closes with a snap. The Jade pieces have some hairlines and 2 areas of darkening. This is a very old pendant so this may be dirt, or internal coloring of the Jade. I also think perhaps something was put in the locket that stained the Jade brown . This does not detract in my opinion. The pendant measures 3/4″ round and weighs 4.5g. I would date this very fine pendant at c1920′s.Product #5686
