Amazing Victorian silver banded Agate and Cameo bracelet
This is a fantastic Victorian bracelet. I have never seen another like it. The metal is tested sterling with banded Agates in each engraved panel. In the center is a large shell cameo, carved in high relief, of a Roman woman. There are engraved scrolls and what looks like little doors with a lock on each one. The bracelet has both gray and brown banded Agates–a stone native to Scotland. Queen Victoria loved all things Scottish. There is a safely chain that needs to be reattached, but I leave that to the buyer. With a loupe I can see tiny flea bites to the edges of the Agates, but for age this bracelet is in remarkable condition. The total length is 6 1/2″, and width at the widest point is 7/8″. The cameo with frame measures 2″ X 1 3/4″. The Agate band gets larger as it gets to the Cameo center, and it measures from 1/2″ X 1/2″ to 5/8″ X 7/8″. The bracelet weighs 29.6g. The clasp is a simple push clasp that works fine. No chips, cracks or crazing to the cameo. I would date this remarkable bracelet at c1860′s-80′s.
